Getting There

  • Walking

    From the entrance of the Vatican Necropolis, head toward the Vatican Museums exit. Once you exit, walk directly toward the large open area known as Piazza San Pietro (St. Peter's Square). You will see the grand basilica in front of you. As you walk, take in the stunning architecture and the majestic colonnades. Once you reach St. Peter's Square, turn left and walk along Via della Conciliazione. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via dei Fornari. Turn right onto Via dei Fornari and continue walking until you reach the entrance to Piazza del Campidoglio, which will be on your right. The impressive square, designed by Michelangelo, will be ahead of you.

  • Public Transport - Bus

    From the Vatican Necropolis, exit and walk to the nearest bus stop, which is located at the end of Via della Conciliazione. Board bus number 64 in the direction of 'Piazza Venezia.' The journey will take approximately 10-15 minutes. After about 4 stops, get off at 'Piazza Venezia.' From there, walk toward the left side of the square, and you will see the steps leading up to the Campidoglio. Follow the pathway that leads you directly to Piazza del Campidoglio.

  • Walking + Metro

    Exit the Vatican Necropolis and head towards the Ottaviano-San Pietro Metro Station. It is about a 15-minute walk. As you walk, continue down Via della Conciliazione until you reach the Tiber River, then turn left and follow the river until you see the metro station. At Ottaviano, take Line A (the orange line) in the direction of 'Anagnina.' Get off at 'Termini' station, which is the central train station. From Termini, transfer to Line B (the blue line) and head towards 'Laurentina.' Get off at 'Colosseo' station. Once you exit the metro, walk towards the Roman Forum, and navigate your way through to Piazza del Campidoglio, which is a short walk away.
