If you are driving, take I-91 North from St. Johnsbury. Exit at 23 for US-5 N towards Lyndonville. Follow US-5 N for about 6 miles until you reach the town of Lyndonville. From there, turn left onto VT-114 N and continue for approximately 9 miles. Turn right onto the Groton State Forest access road, which is well-marked. Follow this road until you reach the parking area for the forest.
Public Transportation + Car
If you are using public transportation, take a bus to St. Johnsbury. From the St. Johnsbury bus station, you can use a rideshare service or taxi to get to Groton State Forest. The distance is approximately 20 miles, so it's recommended to confirm the fare with the service beforehand. Once you arrive at the forest access road, follow it to the designated parking area.
Bicycle
For those who prefer biking, begin in the town of Lyndonville and take VT-114 N. This is a scenic route but please be cautious as it shares the road with vehicles. The total biking distance from Lyndonville to Groton State Forest is roughly 9 miles, and you will need to secure a bike lock at the parking area.
Walking
If you're already within walking distance of the Groton State Forest access road, simply follow the road signs leading you towards the forest. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared for a hike of varying difficulty levels once you arrive.
