Getting There

    From the Visitor Center at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, exit the building and head towards the pedestrian bridge over the Potomac River. Cross the bridge and continue following the signs for the Maryland Heights trailhead, which is located at the end of the bridge. The hike to Maryland Heights is approximately 2.5 miles, and it is a moderately strenuous trail that may take around 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the summit. Make sure to bring water and wear comfortable hiking shoes.

    If you are driving, you can park at the Harpers Ferry National Historical Park visitor lot. From there, take Shoreline Drive (also known as Route 340) and head north. Look for the Maryland Heights trailhead sign, which will be on your left after approximately 1 mile. There is a small parking area available at the trailhead. Note that entrance to the park may require a fee, typically around $20 per vehicle. This fee covers a 3-day visit.
