History of Abyan

Ancient Kingdom of Awsan

The history of Abyan stretches back to ancient times when it was part of the Kingdom of Awsan. The Kingdom of Awsan was a pre-Islamic South Arabian state that thrived around the 8th century BCE. Archaeological findings suggest that this kingdom was a significant center of trade and culture, engaging in commerce with neighboring regions and even distant lands. The remnants of ancient fortifications and inscriptions in Abyan offer a glimpse into this bygone era.

Islamic Era and the Rise of Ziyadids
