My wife and I had a fantastic trip to Sintra led by Filipa. We left Lisbon around 7:50 and when we got to Sintra realized how important it was to get an early start. When we arrived, the little village was just waking but within an hour was getting pretty crowded... and by 11 or so, was packed with new people constantly arriving. Filipa was amazing. She easily navigated the situation so that we had a smooth and positive experience. The greatest value added, though, was her extensive knowledge of the area and its history and her ability to convey it in interesting stories. It was impossible to stump her with questions...lol...she knew it all. Even our drive out and back was enjoyable as we talked about life in Portugal (....and her recommendation for a restaurant that evening was very good). We highly recommend this tour and Filipa as a guide.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND PORTUGUESE FOR A DAY TOURS. Filipa was a phenomenal tour guide! She is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Portugal in general, is very engaging and personable. The tour was an incredibly well planned experience. Filipa provided the perfect insight throughout the tour and was very patient and flexible throughout. Every minute and detail was expertly planned. Overall an excellent experience, would highly recommend to anyone desiring to take a day trip outside of Lisbon! Would highly recommend Portuguese for a Day Tours to anyone!

Decided to book Private Tour to Sintra last minute after hearing all about it. Got lucky that Portuguese for a Day opened the option up just a day before, as they were unsure the tour would proceed as there was an Ironman competition in Sintra the day before. Filipa was our Guide and she's also the owner of the tour company. She knows her way around SIntra that's for sure! All of it was great. The Guide, the sites we saw, the history we learned. We had a great time!

This private tour was excellent and our tour guide Filipa was brilliant. It was essential to pre-book online an entry time early into the Pena Palacio. It is very crowded but Filipa helped to get us around and told us all about the various elements in the Palacio. On the way back she went well over the time of the tour to allow us to have a good lunch in Cascais.

I always do my research, book a tour and then hope for the best. I highly recommend you book a tour with Portuguese for a Day, because you will not have to hope for the best. We were picked up at our hotel right on time in a very nice van. Our guide was Filipa and she was amazing! She is very personable and easy to chat with. She has a degree in tourism and a wealth of knowledge about all things Portugal! We arrived at Pena Palace ahead of all of the crowds. We exited the palace and saw the hoards of people waiting in line to get in. We went to Sintra where she recommended a great little bakery, we enjoyed a delicious treat. We were not scheduled to go to the Quinta da Regaleria, but in talking with us, Filipa realized that we would really like to see it. She changed the intinerary on a dime, quickly made adjustments to get us tickets. We thoroughly enjoyed it and appreciated all of her efforts to make it happen. We continued on to the Western most point of Europe for a stop. Beautiful ocean views and scenic route back to Lisbon. I am amazed at all that she was able to show us in a day. The early start time of the day is key to the perfectly timed tour that is so well thought out and executed. We had an incredible time and wonderful memories!

We had the best tour guide! Filipa was wonderful; she knew so much about her country and gave us so much information about what we were seeing and Portugal in general. It was obvious she loves her job. We saw the Pena Palace, which was amazing and then went into Sintra where we tried traditional Portuguese pastries and walked around the beautiful town. We then drove to the western most part of Europe, which had beautiful views and then on to Cascais, which was similar to the French Riviera. Very high end. The whole experience was wonderful!

What an incredible day! We started the day early— we were able to get to Pena Palace at opening and before it was crowded. What an incredible experience. We also visited the Castle of the Moors, Quinta de La Regaleria, the town of Sintra, Cabo da Roca, and Cascais. Filipa pointed out details throughout the tour that we would have never noticed on our own. She was an incredible guide and gave us insight into Portugal and the sites throughout the day— and she was a great photographer too and offered to take all the photos of us! The private option allowed us a lot of flexibility to customize our itinerary and spend a bit more time in certain places. My husband and I pride ourselves on how much we can plan and visit on our own, but having a guide for Sintra was amazing. It took the guesswork and hassle out of the day, and allowed us to have an experience that I don’t believe we would have had on our own. We loved the day and would highly recommend— it is worth the money!

This tour was booked for us by our travel agency and we didn’t really know what to expect apart from a private tour! The answer was a lovely day with Andre, who was a super, friendly and very knowledgeable guide with superb English. We were sent an email a couple of days before the tour advising us that if we wanted to visit Pena Palace, we should book the earliest slot in advance. Luckily there were still spaces so we did just that and it was indeed excellent advice. Andre gave us plenty of history and information whilst we waited to go in and then left us to visit in the interior on our own, allowing a decent amount of time but not too much - spot on! Next he took us to the historical centre of Sintra, where we had enough time for a good wander around and some shopping. From there we went first for a brief stop at Cabo da Roca and then to Cascais, where we had asked to have lunch. Andre gave us a couple of restaurant recommendations - the one we chose was great - and then we had enough time for a walk around before coming back to Lisbon. The day as a whole was very good and Andre’s sense of timings needed was spot on. My only niggle was that I would have loved to see one of the other major sights in Sintra, but this was clearly not the plan on this tour and as I said we had had this booked for us so was just not to be.

My family of 4 did a day in Sintra with Filipa and it was wonderful. She helped guarantee an excellent experience at Pena Palace, recommended delicious pastries that are famous in Sintra, and was very flexible and offered any adjustments that we wanted. She picked us up from our hotel and dropped us off at the end of the day. She would drop us off at attractions and then go off to park the car so we could enjoy ourselves. She gave us alone time to explore sites and answered all of our questions. We very much enjoyed our day and would highly recommend booking with this company!

This was our second day with Fillippa and once again it was so informative and so pleasant. Fillippa is a joy to be around. Her happy attitude was not deterred by the pouring rain. It became an adventure, adding to the evocative atmosphere that is already at the Palace of Pená and gardens (she bought us an umbrella!). The day was capped with a visit to the surrounding beach towns.
