    From the Alabama State Capitol, walk directly across Dexter Avenue to enter the park. The park extends along Dexter Avenue on either side of the street.

    The Montgomery Area Transit System (MATS) provides bus service to downtown Montgomery. Check MATS schedules for the nearest bus stop to the Capitol Complex. From the bus stop, walk towards the State Capitol and Dexter Avenue; the park is located in front of the Capitol. A single ride on MATS costs $2.00.

  • Driving

    Navigate to 555 Dexter Avenue, Montgomery, AL 36104. Free street parking with a permit is available in the 500 block of Dexter Avenue; permits are available at the Montgomery Area Visitor Center at 300 Water Street. Metered street parking is available on surrounding blocks; street parking is free after 5:00 PM and on weekends.

The park is located in the State Capitol Complex, near the intersection of Dexter Avenue and Bainbridge Street. It occupies the green spaces adjacent to the Lurleen Wallace Office Building and the Attorney General's Building in the 500 block of Dexter Avenue. The sculptures, created by artist Caleb O'Connor, are arranged in a semicircle on each side of Dexter Avenue, inviting visitors to walk through and explore the state's history. Each sculpture is complemented by narrative plaques that provide historical context, representing every region of the state and Alabamians from diverse backgrounds.
