    Kenworthy Hall is located at 23200 AL-14, Marion, AL 36756, approximately two miles west of the Marion courthouse square on Alabama Highway 14. From Marion, head west on AL-14. The Hall will be on the north side of the highway, though it is not visible from the road. Look for the driveway leading to the house. There is no fee for parking.

    While there is no direct public transportation to Kenworthy Hall, you can take a taxi from Marion to the property. Taxi fare is approximately $10-15. Alternatively, you can take a bus to Tuscaloosa and then a taxi to Marion. Keep in mind that bus schedules may be limited.

Kenworthy Hall, also known as the Carlisle-Martin House, stands as a testament to antebellum grandeur near Marion, Alabama. Completed in 1860, this plantation house is a remarkable example of Richard Upjohn's Italian Villa-style architecture, adapted for the Southern climate. Commissioned by Edward Kenworthy Carlisle, a cotton factor, the house was the centerpiece of his 440-acre estate.The architectural design features a distinctive asymmetrical layout, a four-story tower, and windows of varying shapes with brownstone trim. Upjohn incorporated a wide cross hall, a detached kitchen, and a spacious rear porch to accommodate the region's hot and humid climate. The interior is equally impressive, boasting soaring ceilings, ornate chandeliers, and period furnishings.Kenworthy Hall has been privately owned throughout its history, undergoing maintenance and adaptations to suit the needs of its residents. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 and declared a National Historic Landmark in 2004. Legend has it that the mansion is haunted by the ghost of a young girl named Sallie Kenworthy.
