Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the center of Gjirokastër, head east on Rruga Çameri towards the main square. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Rruga Ismail Qemali. Turn right onto Rruga Ismail Qemali and walk uphill. You will pass by several shops and cafes. As you walk, keep an eye out for signs pointing towards the castle. After about 15-20 minutes of walking, you will reach Rruga Elvia Celebi. The castle entrance will be directly in front of you.

    From the Gjirokastër Bazaar, walk towards the main road, Rruga 28 Nëntori, and turn left. Follow this road as it winds uphill and turns into Rruga Elvia Celebi. Look for signs indicating the Castle of Gjirokastra. The walk should take around 20-25 minutes, and you’ll enjoy the beautiful views of the surrounding hills and town.
