Getting There

• Car

  From the center of Kelmendi, head south on the main road. Continue on this road for approximately 15 kilometers until you reach the town of Bajram Curri. Look for signs directing you towards Komani Lake. Upon reaching Bajram Curri, turn left onto the road that leads to the Komani Lake ferry terminal. This road is well-marked and will take you directly to the ferry dock. Parking is usually available near the ferry terminal, though there may be a small fee (around 300-500 Albanian Lek) for parking.

• Public Transportation

  From Kelmendi, take a local bus or minibus heading to Bajram Curri. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes and costs approximately 200-300 Albanian Lek. Once you arrive in Bajram Curri, look for a taxi or a local shuttle service that can take you to the Komani Lake ferry terminal. Expect to pay around 1000-1500 Albanian Lek for the taxi ride. The ferry terminal is well signposted, but you can also ask locals for directions.

• Ferry

  Once you reach the Komani Lake ferry terminal, purchase your ferry tickets at the booth. The ferry rides across the lake to the Shala River area typically last about 30-45 minutes and cost approximately 1000 Albanian Lek per person. The ferry operates on a schedule, so it's advisable to check the departure times in advance. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the mountains and the unique landscape as you travel across the lake.

• Hiking/Walking

  After disembarking from the ferry at the Shala River area, you may choose to explore the surrounding nature by walking or hiking. There are several marked trails that lead to scenic viewpoints and hidden spots along the river. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as these trails can vary in difficulty. While this part of the trip is free, consider bringing some cash for refreshments at local guesthouses or cafes.
