Driving
From the city of Resen in North Macedonia, follow the signs towards the villages on the eastern shore of Lake Prespa, such as Oteševo or Stenje. The roads are generally well-maintained, but be aware of occasional narrow sections. Parking is available in designated areas near the lake and in the villages. Parking is generally free. Be aware that some areas, especially near National Park Galicica, may have a small entrance fee of around 200 MKD (approximately €3).

Bus
From Bitola, take a bus towards the Prespa region. Buses are a common mode of transport in North Macedonia. Several bus companies operate daily from Bitola to Resen, from where you can find local transport to villages around the lake. A one way ticket from Skopje to Bitola is approximately 430 MKD (€8). From Resen, local buses or taxis can take you to the lakeside villages. Taxis should have permission to cross the Greek border.

Walking
Once you arrive in one of the lakeside villages such as Stenje or Oteševo, the lake is easily accessible on foot. Many trails along the shore offer stunning views and opportunities for birdwatching. The village of Agios Germanos on the Greek side is a good starting point for exploring Mikri Prespa. A floating bridge connects to the island of Agios Achilleios. Walking around the villages and to nearby attractions is free.
