Discover more about Waterfall Theth

Waterfall Theth, or Ujëvara e Grunasit, is one of the most captivating natural attractions in Theth National Park. Declared a natural monument in 2002, this waterfall offers a rewarding experience for nature enthusiasts and casual hikers alike. The waterfall is sourced from the melting snow of the surrounding peaks, creating a powerful cascade that plunges approximately 30 meters down a limestone slope. At the base of the falls, an emerald pool collects, offering a refreshing sight. The surrounding area is covered in dense forest, creating a cool, shaded environment that's particularly welcome during the warmer months. The mist from the waterfall often creates rainbows in sunny weather, adding to the magical atmosphere. The hike to Grunas Waterfall is a popular activity for visitors to Theth. The trail starts near the village center and follows a path along the river, gradually ascending through varied terrain. The hike is considered moderate in difficulty, with the final section involving a steeper climb. Along the way, hikers can enjoy views of the Theth Valley, the surrounding mountains, and the Shala River. While the water is drinkable, swimming in the pool at the base of the waterfall is not generally recommended due to the water's icy temperature and the force of the falls. However, the stunning scenery and tranquil atmosphere make it a worthwhile destination for a day trip.
