From Cerro Fitz Roy, take Route 40 south toward El Chaltén. After about 12 kilometers, look for the sign indicating the turnoff to Lago del Desierto. Follow the dirt road for approximately 15 kilometers; it will lead you directly to the entrance of Reserva provincial Lago del Desierto. Be prepared for some rough patches in the road, and consider a vehicle with good clearance.

Start by taking a local bus from Cerro Fitz Roy to El Chaltén. Once you arrive in El Chaltén, you can find a shuttle service that operates to Lago del Desierto. These shuttles typically run several times a day, but be sure to check the schedule in advance as it may vary seasonally. The cost for the shuttle is usually around 1000 ARS one way. The shuttle will drop you off at the entrance of the reserve.
