Getting There

  • Shuttle Bus

    From Grand Canyon Village, take the free Hermit Road (Red) Route shuttle. This shuttle is the primary means of access to Mohave Point from March 1st to November 30th. The shuttle departs from the Hermits Rest Route Transfer stop. The Red Route runs every 10-15 minutes during the day. No tickets are required. The shuttle is free. During the day, the Hermit Road (Red) Route shuttle buses stop here and are only outbound buses, traveling west, to Hermits Rest. After sunset, special shuttles do stop here to return visitors to the Village.

  • Walking

    From the nearby Hopi Point, you can walk approximately one mile along the Rim Trail to Mohave Point. The Rim Trail is mostly paved and offers excellent views of the canyon. There is no cost to walk the Rim Trail.

Mohave Point, located on Hermit Road in Grand Canyon National Park, is a spectacular scenic overlook renowned for its western views and stunning sunsets. From this vantage point, visitors can witness the grandeur of the Grand Canyon, including a mile-deep view of the Colorado River and the steep cliffs of The Abyss. The point's unique position on an angular outcropping of the canyon's southern wall allows for views of other South Rim attractions, such as Hopi Point to the east. Mohave Point provides views of the Salt Creek, Granite, and Hermit rapids in the Colorado River below. Landmarks such as 'The Alligator,' 'Tower of Set,' 'Tower of Ra,' and 'Isis Temple' can also be seen from this point. Unlike some other viewpoints with a single overlook, Mohave Point features multiple overlooks, offering visitors a better chance to find a quieter spot for photos and contemplation. To get to Mohave Point, visitors can take the free Hermit Road (Red) Route shuttle bus, which operates from March 1 to November 30. During these months, private vehicles are restricted from Hermit Road. In December, January, and February, private vehicles are allowed, as the shuttle service is not in operation. Mohave Point is one of only three stops on the eastbound return shuttle bus route.
