Be prepared for a strenuous uphill return. There are no fees associated with hiking the Bright Angel Trail beyond the park entrance fee.

If arriving by shuttle bus within Grand Canyon Village, disembark at the Bright Angel Lodge stop. The trailhead is a short walk from the shuttle stop. From other points in Grand Canyon National Park, several shuttle routes connect to the Village. There is no extra fee to use the shuttle system. During the summer months, the Hikers' Express Shuttle provides early morning service from Grand Canyon Village to the South Kaibab Trailhead. This can be used to access the Bright Angel Trail by disembarking at the Bright Angel Lodge stop. This service is free.
