The Trail of Time is easily accessible by foot from various points within Grand Canyon Village. If you are starting from the South Rim Visitor Center, follow the paved Rim Trail west towards Yavapai Geology Museum or east towards Verkamp's Visitor Center to access the Trail of Time portals. The trail is well-marked and relatively flat, making for an easy walk.
