Pipe Creek Vista is easily accessible, making it a popular stop for those exploring the South Rim. Visitors can arrive by private vehicle or take the free Kaibab Rim Route (Orange) Shuttle Bus from the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. Cameron found an old Meerschaum pipe near the creek and placed it on a willow twig for his companions to find, leading to the creek's eventual name.
