Hiking
From the center of Grand Canyon Village, head south towards the South Rim Trail. Follow signs for the Rim Trail, which will lead you to the edge of the canyon. Once on the Rim Trail, continue walking east along the rim until you reach the South Kaibab Trailhead. This is approximately a 1.5-mile walk. The South Kaibab Trail will take you down into the canyon, and while it does not take you directly to Kaibab National Forest, it provides access to stunning views and connections to other trails that lead into the forest area.
Biking
Rent a bike from one of the shops in Grand Canyon Village. Start cycling towards the Grand Canyon Visitor Center. From there, continue along the bike path that leads to the South Kaibab Trailhead. This ride is about 3 miles and offers beautiful views. Once you reach the trailhead, you can park your bike and access the South Kaibab Trail, which provides opportunities to explore areas closer to Kaibab National Forest.
Shuttle Service
Check for the Grand Canyon shuttle service that operates within the park. You can catch the shuttle at various points in Grand Canyon Village, including the Visitor Center. Take the shuttle towards the South Kaibab Trailhead. Once you arrive at the trailhead, you will have access to hiking trails that lead into the Kaibab National Forest. Be sure to check the shuttle schedule for the latest times and routes.
