Getting There

  • Shuttle Bus

    From Grand Canyon Village, take the free Hermit Road (Red) Route shuttle. The shuttle operates from March 1st through November 30th; outside of these months, private vehicles are allowed. The bus stops at several viewpoints along Hermit Road. Get off at the Monument Creek Vista stop. No tickets are required for the shuttle. The shuttle runs every 10-15 minutes during peak hours and every 30 minutes during early morning and late evening. A round trip without getting off the bus takes approximately 80 minutes. Be sure to check the schedule for the last bus of the day.

  • Walking

    From the Abyss, walk 0.9 miles west along the Canyon Rim Trail to Monument Creek Vista. The trail is unpaved. Alternatively, from Hopi Point, walk 1 mile east along the paved Greenway Trail. From Grand Canyon Village, the walk to Monument Creek Vista is approximately 6 miles along the Canyon Rim Trail and Greenway Trail. The Rim Trail has some steep sections.

From Monument Creek Vista, the views extend across sweeping red-rock buttes towards the North Rim.
