Discover more about Grandeur Point

Grandeur Point is a must-see destination within Grand Canyon National Park, offering visitors an easily accessible yet less crowded alternative to more popular viewpoints like Mather, Lipan, or Hopi Points. Situated along the paved Rim Trail, between the Grand Canyon Visitor Center and the Village, it provides breathtaking views of the canyon's geological wonders. From this vantage point, you'll be treated to an especially dramatic view of Bright Angel Canyon, which carves its way across the Grand Canyon, cutting deep into both the South and North Rims. Look closely, and you can observe the offset along the Bright Angel Fault where the switchbacks of the Bright Angel Trail descend through the Coconino Sandstone. The village sits near the southern head of this massive side canyon, formed along this prominent geologic structure. Grandeur Point also provides fantastic aerial views of the switchbacks on the upper and middle portions of Bright Angel Trail, as well as a glimpse of the 3-Mile Resthouse far below. To the west, you can see The Battleship and Dana Butte, with approximately 15 miles of the canyon stretching into the distance. While the cliffs of Yavapai Point somewhat restrict the view to the east, you can still observe Pipe Creek and the lower end of Cedar Ridge, along with countless buttes and canyons on the North Rim. Whether you're seeking a memorable sunset spot or simply want to immerse yourself in the grandeur of the Grand Canyon, Grandeur Point is well worth the walk.
