Discover more about Goldfield Ghost Town and Mine Tours Inc.

Goldfield Ghost Town, located in Apache Junction, Arizona, offers a unique glimpse into the state's rich mining history. Originally a bustling gold mining town in the 1890s, Goldfield quickly grew to include three saloons, a boarding house, general store, blacksmith shop, brewery, meat market, and a schoolhouse. However, the town's prosperity was short-lived; when the gold vein faulted, the town slowly died. After several unsuccessful attempts to revive the mines, the town saw intermittent revivals until 1926. In 1966, Robert and Lou Ann Shoo purchased the site, driven by stories of lost gold and the town's vibrant past. Over two decades, they meticulously rebuilt the mining tunnel and restored the town's buildings, opening it as a tourist attraction in 1988. Today, visitors can stroll down Main Street, explore historic buildings, and immerse themselves in the Wild West atmosphere. Popular attractions include the Mammoth Gold Mine Tour, where guides share the history of the mine, town, and gold mining equipment. You can also pan for gold, ride Arizona's only narrow-gauge train, and witness gunfight shows performed by the Goldfield Gunfighters. Other attractions include the Mystery Shack, Lu Lu's Bordello, and the Superstition Zipline. Goldfield's Historic Museum displays artifacts and shares stories of the town's past. Set against the backdrop of the Superstition Mountains, Goldfield Ghost Town provides a memorable and educational experience for all ages. It's a place where history comes alive, offering a fun-filled day rich in Wild West history.
