If you're traveling by car, start from Holbrook, AZ. Head east on AZ-180 E for about 25 miles. Continue straight onto the Petrified Forest National Park entrance. Once you enter the park, follow the signs to the Painted Desert Inn, which is located at 1 Park Rd. The inn offers beautiful views and is a great stop for refreshments and learning about the area's history.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take the Greyhound bus to Holbrook, AZ. From the bus station, you can arrange for a local taxi or rideshare service to cover the remaining 25 miles to Petrified Forest National Park. Request a ride to the main entrance of the park, then follow the park signs leading to the Painted Desert Inn at 1 Park Rd.
Car
If you're coming from Winslow, AZ, get on I-40 E from Main St. Continue on I-40 E for about 33 miles. Take exit 286 for AZ-87 N toward Holbrook. After about 9 miles, turn left onto AZ-180 E and follow the signs to the Petrified Forest National Park entrance. Once inside, follow the signs to Painted Desert Inn located at 1 Park Rd.
