If you are already inside Petrified Forest National Park, navigate to the Painted Desert Rim Trail by driving towards the northern section of the park. From the park entrance on Highway 180, drive for approximately 28 miles to reach the Painted Desert Visitor Center. At the visitor center, you can obtain maps and information about the trail. After visiting the center, continue northeast on the Rim Trail Road for about 1 mile until you see the parking area for the Painted Desert Rim Trail. This area is well-marked and has a designated parking lot.
