Car
From any location in Verde Valley, head south on AZ-89A towards Cottonwood. Continue on AZ-89A until you reach the junction with AZ-260. Turn right onto AZ-260 and follow signs towards Camp Verde. Merge onto I-17 S and continue for approximately 20 miles. Take exit 287 for AZ-260 towards Payson. Continue on AZ-260 for about 27 miles, then turn left onto AZ-87 S. After approximately 12 miles, take a slight right turn onto AZ-82 E. Follow AZ-82 for about 8 miles until you reach the intersection with Duquesne Rd. Turn left onto Duquesne Rd and continue for about 1 mile. San Rafael State Natural Area will be on your right. The approximate drive time is about 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Public Transportation
Take the Verde Lynx bus service (Route 3) from various locations in Verde Valley to the Cottonwood Transit Center. From there, transfer to the Greyhound bus service that heads towards Tucson and get off at the Patagonia stop. Once in Patagonia, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach San Rafael State Natural Area, which is approximately 15 miles away. Be sure to check the bus schedules ahead of time for accurate timings and any potential costs associated with the bus rides.
