Discover more about Josephine Tussaud Wax Museum

The Josephine Tussaud Wax Museum, located in the heart of Hot Springs, Arkansas, offers a unique and quirky experience for visitors of all ages. Founded in 1971, the museum is housed in the historic Southern Club building at 250 Central Avenue. This building, dating back to 1893, was once a popular gambling spot for gangsters, adding to the museum's intriguing atmosphere. The museum features over 100 life-size wax figures, crafted by Gems Wax Models of London, depicting a wide range of personalities from historical figures and royalty to celebrities and characters from make-believe. Visitors can explore themed exhibits such as the Last Supper, medieval tortures in the World of Horrors, and fairy tale scenes like Alice's Mad Hatter tea party. A Gambling Museum exhibit displays historical gambling equipment and FBI case files related to the gambling industry in Hot Springs. Josephine Tussaud, the museum's namesake, was the great-great-granddaughter of Marie Tussaud, founder of the famous Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in London. However, the Hot Springs museum is not affiliated with the international chain. The building itself is a Romanesque Revival style structure and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. While the museum may not have the polish of its London counterpart, it offers a charming and nostalgic experience, with many of the figures dating back to the 1970s. Visitors can take a self-guided tour through the various themed rooms, taking photos and immersing themselves in the world of wax.
