    From Mt. Ida, travel south on Highway 27 for approximately 3.8 miles. Turn left (east) onto County Road 2237, also known as Owley Road. Continue on Owley Road for 4.1 miles to the Crystal Vista trailhead. There is no fee to park or enter the area.

At the summit, the former mine site opens up, revealing a landscape scattered with quartz crystals. Visitors are welcome to surface hunt or dig for crystals, making it a hands-on and rewarding experience. Crystals collected are for personal, non-commercial use only. The vista also offers panoramic views of the surrounding national forest and Lake Ouachita in the distance. The east-west orientation of the ridges is a distinctive feature of the Ouachita Mountains. Crystal Vista is a stop along the Crystal Vista Auto Tour, a 25-mile loop that highlights scenic and historic sites within the Ouachita National Forest.
