Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, which is Ejmiatsin. From Ejmiatsin, head east on the M1 highway towards the city of Ararat. After approximately 30 minutes, take a left turn onto the road leading to Geghama Mountains. Continue driving on this road for about 20 kilometers until you reach the parking area near the base of Azhdahak. Make sure your vehicle is suitable for mountainous terrain, as the last segment of the road might be rough.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a minibus from Yerevan to Ejmiatsin. Once in Ejmiatsin, you can catch another minibus to the village of Geghard. From Geghard, you’ll need to hire a local taxi to take you to the base of Azhdahak. The taxi ride will cost approximately 5,000 to 7,000 AMD. Ensure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.

Hiking
Once you have reached the parking area or the drop-off point from your taxi, you will need to hike the remaining distance to Azhdahak. The hike is approximately 3 kilometers and can take about 1 to 2 hours, depending on your pace. Follow the marked trails leading up the mountain, and ensure you stay on the path to enjoy the beautiful views of the Geghama Mountains. Be prepared for changes in weather and wear suitable hiking gear.
