Car
If you are driving to Hansons Peak, begin by entering Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park via the entrance on Cradle Mountain Road. Follow the signs for Dove Lake. Once you reach Dove Lake, park at the Dove Lake car park. From the car park, follow the marked walking track leading to Hansons Peak. The hike to the peak is approximately 5.5 kilometers one way and can take around 2-3 hours depending on your fitness level. Ensure you wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring plenty of water and snacks.

Public Transport
If you are using public transport, you can catch a bus from Launceston or Hobart to the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre. Look for the bus service operated by Tassie Link. From the Visitor Centre, you can either take a shuttle bus (which may require a small fee) to Dove Lake or opt to hike the 6 km from the Visitor Centre to Dove Lake. Once at Dove Lake, follow the walking track to Hansons Peak as described above. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance for return trips.

For those who are already within the park and are looking to reach Hansons Peak on foot, start from the Dove Lake car park. Follow the Dove Lake Circuit until you reach the junction for the Hansons Peak track. The hike from Dove Lake is moderately challenging, with some steep sections, so be prepared for a workout. This route offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape and is well-marked with signage.
