If you're traveling by car, head towards the town of Prags (Braies) in South Tyrol. From Lienz, take the B100 road towards Dobbiaco (Toblach). After about 30 minutes, turn onto the SP49 road, which will lead you directly to the Lake Braies area. Follow the signs for 'Lago di Braies' as you approach the lake. There is a parking area near the lake; however, please note that parking fees may apply, typically around €5-€10 for the day, depending on the season.

If you prefer public transportation, start by taking a train from Lienz to Dobbiaco. The journey takes about 1 hour. From Dobbiaco, you can catch a bus (line 442) that goes directly to Lake Braies. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, especially if you're traveling during off-peak seasons, as services may be limited. A single bus ticket generally costs around €3-€5.

Combination of Car and Shuttle Bus
Another option is to drive to Dobbiaco and then switch to a shuttle bus that operates between the town and Lake Braies. After reaching Dobbiaco via car, you can park in one of the designated areas and take the shuttle bus, which runs frequently during the tourist season. The shuttle fare is usually around €2-€4. This is a great way to avoid parking congestion at the lake during peak times.
