Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the Mirabell Palace, head east towards the Salzach River. Walk across the Makartsteg pedestrian bridge, which offers nice views of the river. Once you reach the other side, continue straight until you reach the Old Town area. From there, follow the signs towards Mönchsberg. You can either take the lift up from the Old Town (located at Mönchsberg 34) or walk up the path which is more scenic and takes about 15-20 minutes. If taking the lift, it will take you directly to the viewpoint.

From Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take bus number 5 towards 'Mönchsberg' and get off at the stop 'Mönchsberg'. From the bus stop, follow the signs leading to the Mönchsberg viewpoint. You can also take bus number 2 towards 'Friedhof', which will drop you off at the same area. Both options will have you walking a short distance (approximately 5-10 minutes) to the viewpoint.
