Discover more about Pfarre Leopoldskron-Moos

The Pfarre Leopoldskron-Moos, dedicated to Maria Hilf (Mary of Succor), serves as a central landmark in the Leopoldskron-Moos district of Salzburg. The area, characterized by a linear settlement along Moosstraße, owes its development to Prince Archbishop Leopold Anton von Firmian, who constructed Schloss Leopoldskron nearby. As the community grew in the late 19th century, residents desired a local church, leading to a fundraising initiative and the construction of the historicist Kirche Maria Hilf. The church's foundation stone was laid on July 10, 1853, based on plans by Jakob Götz and Otto Laschensky. By Christmas 1856, the church was sufficiently complete to hold its first service. On February 28, 1857, Leopoldskron-Moos was established as a parish, with Max Schwab becoming the first pastor on March 1. The church was consecrated on September 26, 1858, by Archbishop Maximilian Cardinal Tarnoczy. The church features windows with tracery and ornamental glazing from its construction period. Inside, a mural depicting the Coronation of Mary adorns the apse vault, painted by Sebastian Stief in 1856. The church underwent an interior renovation in 1998 and the Weber organ was renovated in preparation for the church's anniversary in 2007/08. Today, the Pfarre Leopoldskron-Moos remains an active parish, offering regular services and community events.
