Walking
From Kapitelplatz in the Old Town, walk southeast towards the Salzburg Cathedral (Dom). With the Dom to your left, continue straight through Kapitelgasse, which leads directly to the Festungsbahn funicular station. The walk is approximately 5-10 minutes. Alternatively, from the city center, follow signs towards Hohensalzburg Fortress. The path leads uphill and takes around 15-20 minutes to reach the fortress entrance. Note that the old town is a pedestrian zone, so vehicle access is limited. Cost: Free (walking).

Take bus lines 1, 4, or any trolleybus line that stops at the Rathaus or Kapitelplatz. From either stop, it's a short walk to the Festungsbahn funicular station, which ascends to the fortress. Cost: A single bus ticket costs €2.40 if purchased in advance or €3.00 if purchased on board. A 24-hour ticket is €4.90 in advance or €6.40 on board.

The Festungsbahn funicular provides direct access to Hohensalzburg Fortress from Festungsgasse 4 in the Old Town. The ride takes about one minute.
