From anywhere in Baku, the most convenient way to reach Icherisheher is via the Baku Metro. Take the Red Line and disembark at Icherisheher station, which is located right next to the Old City. A single metro fare costs 0.30 AZN and requires a BakiKART, which can be purchased at metro stations.

Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Bolt are readily available throughout Baku. A short taxi ride from the city center to Icherisheher typically costs between 4-6 AZN. Be sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.

Icherisheher is centrally located and easily accessible on foot from many parts of Baku. From Nizami Street, a major thoroughfare, it's approximately a 4.9 km walk that should take under an hour. Walking allows you to soak in the city's atmosphere and discover hidden gems along the way. Note that the Old City has cobblestone streets, so wear comfortable shoes.

Parking within Icherisheher is very limited due to narrow streets. Recent regulations restrict the number of vehicles allowed inside, prioritizing residents and visitors to hotels within the walls. If you must drive, be aware that parking is available at designated areas outside the walls. As of June 2025, parking inside Icherisheher costs 5 AZN per hour. Entry for non-residents is 3 AZN for the first 15 minutes, then 5 AZN per hour, payable electronically.
