Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the nearest major city, which is Sylhet. From Sylhet, head southeast on the Sylhet-Tamabil Road (N2). Continue for about 35 kilometers until you reach the town of Jaintiapur. From Jaintiapur, follow the signs for the Bangladesh-India border. The journey will take approximately 1 hour, depending on traffic. Once you reach the border checkpoint, inform the guards you are visiting the Bangladesh-India border pillar 1203. You will need to present identification and may incur a small fee for border access. After passing the checkpoint, continue towards Barek Tila, where the border pillar is located at coordinates 25.195789, 91.250733.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a bus from Sylhet to Jaintiapur. Buses depart regularly from the Sylhet bus station, and the fare is approximately 50 BDT. The journey will take around 1 to 1.5 hours. Once you reach Jaintiapur, hire a local rickshaw or auto-rickshaw to take you to the border checkpoint. The rickshaw fare should be around 100-150 BDT. After you reach the checkpoint, present your identification and follow the instructions to proceed to the border pillar. The final leg of your journey to the pillar will be on foot, as vehicles are not allowed near the pillar.

  If you are already near Barek Tila, you can walk to the Bangladesh-India border pillar 1203. From the main road, head towards the Barek Tila area and continue walking in the direction of the border. The pillar is located at coordinates 25.195789, 91.250733. The walk may take about 15-20 minutes, depending on your starting point. Ensure you are aware of your surroundings, as this area is near the border.
