From central Punakha, start at the Punakha Dzong, which is the main attraction and a prominent landmark. Exit the Dzong grounds and head towards the Punakha-Thimphu Highway (also known as the Wangdue-Punakha Highway). Walk north along the highway for about 1.5 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the view point signs along the way. The trail will lead you through a scenic area with views of the Male and Female rivers. After around 1.5 kilometers, you will see a path leading off the highway that goes uphill towards the Punakha Dzong View Point. Follow this path, which is well-marked, and continue upwards for about 200 meters until you reach the viewpoint.

If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle in Punakha. Start at the Punakha Dzong and bike north towards the Punakha-Thimphu Highway. This will be approximately a 1.5-kilometer ride. Once you reach the highway, continue biking on the road for about 1 kilometer. Look for the signs indicating the viewpoint and take the left turn that leads uphill. Bike up the path for about 200 meters, where you will arrive at the Punakha Dzong View Point, enjoying beautiful scenery along the way.
