Parque Natural Municipal Dois Irmãos: A Leblon Oasis

Parque Natural Municipal Dois Irmãos, also known as Parque Natural Municipal Penhasco Dois Irmãos - Dois Cariocas - Sérgio Bernardes e Alfredo Sirkis, is a preserved area located in the Leblon neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. Created in 1992, during the United Nations Earth Summit (ECO 92), the park fulfills the desire to preserve the area and protect the local fauna and flora. The park spans nearly 40 hectares and offers visitors a unique blend of natural beauty and recreational opportunities. The park's ecosystem is part of the Atlantic Forest, boasting a rich variety of plant species, including orchids, bromeliads, and trees like the embassy tree. It also provides refuge for diverse bird species like the tiê-sangue, sanhaço, sabiá, and bem-te-vi, as well as small mammals like gambás, bats, and monkeys. Visitors can explore the park's trails, leading to viewpoints that offer stunning views of the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, the Botanical Garden, Christ the Redeemer, and the beaches of Leblon and Ipanema. The park also features a small lake in the Friendship Grove, adorned with water lilies. The park further provides playgrounds, sports courts, and gardens for picnics, making it an ideal destination for families and nature enthusiasts.
