Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Mercado Modelo, exit the market and head towards the Elevador Lacerda, a large elevator that connects the lower city with the upper city. Take the elevator to the top, and once you exit, walk straight ahead to Praça Tomé de Souza, where the beautiful city hall (Palácio da Câmara Municipal) is located. From there, head towards Rua da Misericórdia, passing by the Igreja de São Francisco on your left. Continue on Rua da Misericórdia until you reach the intersection with Rua das Portas do Carmo, then turn right. Follow this road until you reach Largo Terreiro de Jesus, which will be on your left. You will recognize it by the beautiful church and vibrant atmosphere.
