If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Head southwest on the A1 highway towards Pernik. After approximately 10 km, take the exit onto the A3 highway towards Samokov. Continue on the A3 for about 25 km until you reach the village of Bistritsa. From Bistritsa, follow signs for Boyana Lake, which is about a 10-minute drive (approximately 6 km). You can park your car at designated parking areas near the lake. Note that there might be a small parking fee.

To reach Boyana Lake using public transport, take the metro line 1 from central Sofia to the 'Vitosha' station. From there, you can catch bus number 64 towards Bistritsa. The bus ride will take about 30 minutes. Get off at the Bistritsa stop and follow the signs to Boyana Lake, which is approximately a 30-minute walk (around 2.5 km) from the bus stop. Be sure to check the bus schedule as it may vary, especially on weekends.

For those who enjoy hiking, you can start at the 'Boyana' metro station (on line 1) and walk to Boyana Lake. The walk is about 3 km and will take around 45 minutes. Head southwest from the metro station, following the signs towards the Boyana Waterfall first, then continue towards the lake.
