Getting There

    From Vihren Hut, follow the well-marked trail south towards Muratovo Lake. The hike is approximately 2 kilometers with an elevation gain of just over 260 meters. The trail runs parallel to the Banderitsa River for about 500 meters. After 500 meters, the route splits at a wooden bridge; turn right, away from the bridge. Follow the blue markings. The hike takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. There are no fees associated with hiking to the lake.

    Take a bus from Bansko to Dobrinishte; the fare is approximately 2 BGN, and the journey takes about 30 minutes. From Dobrinishte, take a taxi to Vihren Hut for approximately 10-15 BGN. From Vihren Hut, follow the walking directions to the lake. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance for your return trip.

    From Bansko, drive towards Pirin National Park on Route 19. Continue to Vihren Hut. There may be a small fee (around 5-10 BGN) for vehicle access to the park. Park at Vihren Hut. From Vihren Hut, follow the walking directions to the lake. Parking fee at Vihren Hut may be around 5 BGN.
