Walking
From the center of Espargos, head southwest on Avenida Amílcar Cabral. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the roundabout. At the roundabout, take the second exit onto Avenida dos Pioneiros. Continue on this road for approximately 2 kilometers, passing through a residential area. You will come to a fork in the road; keep to the left to stay on Avenida dos Pioneiros. After another 1 kilometer, you will see signs directing you to Santa Maria. Continue straight, and you will eventually enter Santa Maria. Follow the signs towards the beach area, and after roughly 1.5 kilometers, you will arrive at Praia de Santa Maria.
Public Transport (Bus)
From Espargos, head to the main bus station located near the city center. Look for the bus labeled 'Santa Maria' or 'Praia de Santa Maria'. Buses typically depart every 30 minutes. The ride takes approximately 30-40 minutes. When you arrive in Santa Maria, get off at the last stop, which is near the beach. From there, it’s just a short walk to Praia de Santa Maria, heading towards the ocean.
Shared Taxi (Aluguer)
To take a shared taxi, walk to the main taxi stand in Espargos. Look for a taxi heading towards Santa Maria. Aluguer taxis are often shared with other passengers, and the fare is typically very affordable. The journey to Santa Maria takes about 20-30 minutes depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Santa Maria, ask the driver to drop you off near the beach area, and from there, you can easily walk to Praia de Santa Maria.
