Getting There

Walking
Starting from the Big Sur River Inn, head south on CA-1 (Pacific Coast Highway). Enjoy the stunning views as you walk along the shoulder. Continue for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the entrance of Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. This will be on your left. The entrance to the northernmost section of the Big Sur National Scenic Byway is just beyond the park entrance.

From the Big Sur River Inn, rent a bike from a local rental shop. Head south on CA-1, riding along the Pacific Coast Highway. After about 2 miles, look for the entrance to Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park on your left side. The northernmost section of the Big Sur National Scenic Byway is just past the park entrance, offering beautiful coastal views along the way.

Take the Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) Bus Route 22, which connects to Big Sur. Board the bus at the nearest stop to your location in Big Sur and ride towards the Carmel area. Get off at the stop near Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park. From there, you can walk approximately 0.5 miles south along CA-1 to reach the northernmost section of the Big Sur National Scenic Byway.
