Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving, start from the Joshua Tree National Park Visitor Center located at 6554 Park Blvd, Joshua Tree, CA 92252. From the Visitor Center, head east on Park Blvd for approximately 2.3 miles, then turn left onto Utah Trail. Continue on Utah Trail for about 1.5 miles until you reach the junction with the Pinto Basin Road. Turn right onto Pinto Basin Road and drive for about 5 miles. Look for a dirt road on your left that leads toward Heart Rock. Drive down this road for about 0.5 miles until you reach the parking area. Please note that there is no designated parking area specifically for Heart Rock, so make sure to park safely and legally.

  • Public Transportation

    Public transportation options are limited within Joshua Tree National Park. If you are using public transit, you can take the Morongo Basin Transit Authority (MBTA) bus to Joshua Tree. From the bus stop, you will need to arrange a rideshare service or taxi to get to Heart Rock. Once you reach Pinto Basin Road, inform your driver to drop you off at the dirt road that leads to Heart Rock. Due to the remote location, it might be advisable to coordinate with your driver in advance for the return trip.

  • Hiking

    If you are already in the park and prefer hiking, you can hike to Heart Rock from the nearby trails. From the main entrance of the park, head towards the Hidden Valley area. There are several trails that connect to Pinto Basin Road. Follow the trails that lead south towards the coordinates XXQP+7J.
