Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Truckee Amtrak station, the Historic Downtown Truckee & Visitor Center is a short walk. Head east on Donner Pass Rd toward Spring St. The visitor center will be on your left, a very short walk. Sidewalks are available.

  • Public Transport

    Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit (TART) operates free bus and on-demand shuttle services throughout Truckee. Use the TART Connect app to request a free, on-demand shuttle to the visitor center from anywhere in Truckee. Check the TART website or app for schedules and real-time tracking.

  • Parking

    If driving, parking is available in downtown Truckee, but can be limited, especially during peak season and events. Metered parking is available on Donner Pass Road, Spring Street, and other downtown streets, costing $1.50 per hour. The Railyard Lot offers the first two hours free in the most eastern lot, then $1.00 per hour. Be aware of winter parking bans from November 1 to April 30, which prohibit parking on town roads. Free employee parking is available in the east end of the Railyard Lot with a valid employee permit.
