Getting There

• Public Transport

  From Palm Desert, take the SunLine bus Route 30 towards Indio. Get off at the stop at Washington St and I-10. Transfer to Route 17 towards Borrego Springs. Stay on the bus until you reach the Borrego Springs stop. From the bus stop, walk east on Palm Canyon Dr, then turn right onto Borrego Springs Rd, which will lead you towards the historical site. It is about a 1-mile walk from the bus stop to the Santa Catarina Historic Monument.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bike at one of the local shops in Palm Desert. Start at the intersection of El Paseo and Highway 111, then head south on Highway 111 towards the town of Borrego Springs. Follow the signs for Borrego Springs, and once you arrive, continue on Palm Canyon Dr until you reach Borrego Springs Rd. The Santa Catarina Historic Monument is about 2 miles from the main road, so be prepared for some off-road biking.

• Walking

  For an adventurous walk, start from the center of Palm Desert. Head east on El Paseo until you reach Highway 111. Continue south on Highway 111 until you reach the Borrego Springs area, which is approximately 20 miles away. It will take several hours, so make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks. Once in Borrego Springs, head east on Palm Canyon Dr and then onto Borrego Springs Rd to reach the monument, which is a little further down the road.
