Getting There

• Car

  From downtown San Diego, take Interstate 8 East towards El Centro. Continue on I-8 for about 70 miles. Take exit 77 for CA-79 South toward Julian/Borrego Springs. Follow CA-79 South for approximately 30 miles until you reach the junction with CA-78. Turn left onto CA-78 East and follow it for about 20 miles. You will enter Borrego Springs. Continue on CA-78 until you arrive at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park entrance. Once inside the park, follow the signs towards the Mine Wash area to reach the Ancient Kumeyaay Historic Winter Village Site. Parking may be available near the site, but check for any fees or requirements. Make sure to bring water and sun protection, as the desert environment can be harsh.
