Start at the Palm Desert Transit Center located at 73-710 Fred Waring Drive. From there, take Bus Route 14 towards the Palm Springs area. You will ride this bus for approximately 40 minutes. Get off at the stop at the corner of Palm Canyon Drive and Tahquitz Canyon Way. Next, transfer to Bus Route 2 heading towards the Palm Springs Airport. Ride for about 30 minutes until you reach the stop at the intersection of Highway 74 and Highway 86. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles southeast on Highway 74 towards the Vallecito-Butterfield Stage Station, which is located near the coordinates 33.0968, -116.4754.

If you prefer cycling, start at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park located at 73510 Fred Waring Drive. Rent a bike from a local rental shop. Head west on Fred Waring Drive, then turn south onto Highway 111. Continue on Highway 111 until you reach the junction with Highway 74. Turn left onto Highway 74 and cycle for about 5 miles. The Vallecito-Butterfield Stage Station will be on your left near the coordinates 33.0968, -116.4754. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water.

If you prefer walking, you can start from the Palm Desert Civic Center Park. Head south on San Pablo Avenue towards Fred Waring Drive. Continue straight onto Highway 111 and walk for about 5 miles.
