Public Transportation
From downtown Palo Alto, walk to the Palo Alto Transit Center located at 420 Whitney Ave. Take the Caltrain northbound towards San Francisco. Get off at the Menlo Park station. From Menlo Park, transfer to the 34 bus at the Menlo Park Caltrain station. Board the bus heading towards Portola Valley. After about 15 minutes, get off at the Portola Road stop. From there, it's a short 10-minute walk to The Couple Bench located at 200 Portola Rd. You will walk south on Portola Road until you reach the bench, which is set in a serene area.

Biking
If you prefer to bike, rent a bike from a local shop in Palo Alto. Head out towards the Baylands Nature Preserve via Embarcadero Road. Follow the bike path that leads to the Bay Trail. Continue on the trail until you reach the junction with Alpine Road. Turn left on Alpine Road and follow it until you reach Portola Road. Turn right on Portola Road and bike for about 10 minutes until you find The Couple Bench at 200 Portola Rd, which is a lovely spot to rest.

If you are feeling adventurous and are up for a longer walk, you can start from downtown Palo Alto. Head west on University Avenue until you reach the intersection with El Camino Real and turn left. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Sand Hill Road. Turn right on Sand Hill Road and walk until you find Portola Road. Turn left on Portola Road and walk for approximately 30 minutes. You will arrive at The Couple Bench located at 200 Portola Rd, enjoying the scenic views along the way.
