Getting There

Car

From San Pedro de Atacama, head west on Route 23 towards Valle de la Luna. Continue for approximately 13 km until you reach a fork in the road. Keep left to stay on Route 23. After another 3 km, look for the sign for Mirador de Kari - Piedra del Coyote. Turn left and follow the dirt road for about 2 km until you reach the viewpoint. Parking is available near the entrance. Be aware that you need a high clearance vehicle and preferably a 4x4 for the unpaved roads.
Public Transportation

From the main square in San Pedro de Atacama, look for local tour operators or shuttle services offering trips to Valle de la Luna. Many of these tours include a visit to Mirador de Kari - Piedra del Coyote. The cost of a shuttle or tour can vary, but expect to pay around 10,000 to 15,000 CLP (Chilean Pesos) for a round trip. Confirm with the operator that the tour includes a stop at the mirador, and be sure to check the schedule as these tours typically operate in the late afternoon to catch the sunset.
Shared Taxi (Colectivo)

You can take a shared taxi known as a 'colectivo' to get closer to Mirador de Kari. Locate the colectivo stand near the Plaza de Armas. Ask the driver for a ride to 'Piedra del Coyote', which is the colloquial name for Mirador de Kari. The ride will take about 15 minutes, and you may need to walk the final stretch up to the viewpoint. The cost is approximately 2,000 CLP.
