Getting There

  • Driving

    The most common way to approach Great Sand Dunes National Park is by car. From Alamosa, Colorado, take US Highway 160 east to State Highway 150 north. The park entrance is located at the north end of Highway 150. The drive takes approximately 45 minutes. Entrance fees are charged when the entrance station is open, typically during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, or when the visitor center is open in the winter. The fee is $25 per private vehicle, $20 for motorcycles, and $15 per person for those entering on foot or by bicycle. An annual park pass is available for $45. Parking is included with the entrance pass.

    From Alamosa, you can take a taxi to Great Sand Dunes National Park. This is the best option if you do not have a car. The drive takes approximately 41 minutes. A taxi ride will cost $110 - $140.
