Car
If you're driving from Eastern Plains, start by getting onto US-287 S towards Limon. Continue for approximately 100 miles until you reach I-25 S. Merge onto I-25 S and follow the signs towards Pueblo. Take exit 101 for US-50 W towards Canon City. Follow US-50 W for about 43 miles until you reach the junction with US-285 S. Take US-285 S for approximately 30 miles until you reach the town of Alamosa. From Alamosa, take US-160 W for about 50 miles. Once you reach Durango, take US-550 N for about 35 miles and then follow signs to Mesa Verde National Park. The park entrance is approximately 10 miles from the junction.

Public transportation options are limited in this area, but you can take a Greyhound bus from various locations in Eastern Plains to Durango. Upon arrival in Durango, you will need to rent a car or arrange for a shuttle service to get to Mesa Verde National Park, which is about 35 miles away. Be sure to check Greyhound's schedule in advance as services may not run frequently. Costs will vary, but expect to pay around $40-$70 for a one-way ticket.

Combination of Train and Car Rental
Travelers can take an Amtrak train from various locations to La Junta, CO. From La Junta, you will need to rent a car and drive approximately 120 miles to reach Mesa Verde National Park. The drive will take you through scenic routes, and you will follow US-50 W to US-285 S before connecting to US-160 W as described above. Be sure to book your train and car rental in advance, and the total cost for the train ticket will be approximately $50-$100, plus car rental fees.
