Discover more about Maroon Bells Amphitheatre

The Maroon Bells Amphitheatre is a unique venue located within the White River National Forest, near Aspen, Colorado. This scenic spot is nestled in the Maroon Bells-Snowmass Wilderness, one of the original wilderness areas designated in 1964. The amphitheater itself is designed for interpretive talks and is a popular spot for recreational events and weddings. The amphitheater's setting is dominated by the spectacular Maroon Bells, reputed to be the most photographed mountains in Colorado. These peaks, rising over 14,000 feet, are unique in the Rockies due to their composition of metamorphic sedimentary mudstone, giving them a distinctive maroon color. The amphitheater is surrounded by Maroon Lake, aspen groves, and evergreen forests, creating a stunning natural setting. The site can be reserved for private events, accommodating a maximum of 50 people. While wedding ceremonies are permitted, receptions are not, though the nearby East Maroon Portal Picnic site can be reserved for receptions. The amphitheater is generally available for reservations, excluding Fridays and Saturdays in June, July, and August, and Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in September and October. The daily rental rate is $200. In an effort to preserve the wilderness and limit vehicle emissions, access to the Maroon Bells is managed through a reservation system. During the peak season, a shuttle service is available from Aspen Highlands Ski Area. Visitors can also opt to drive their own vehicles with a parking reservation, particularly during off-peak times or before 8:00 AM and after 5:00 PM.
